We’re proud to announce that Mark Out Media is now in partnership with the Alabama Wrestling Federation (AWF). The AWF runs out of western Alabama and has been doing so for over a decade. It is THE indy of it’s region. Past shows have seen star appearances by the likes of Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, the Honky Tonk Man, Glacier, “Road Dogg” Jesse James, Marty Jannetty and Jon Heidenreich to name but a few. To compliment their mainstream stars, promoter Dwaine Henderson regularly books cream of the crop local talent such as longtime Mark Out Media favorites like the Rainbow Warrior, 2 Quik and Energy Crisis, plus the hottest new act in the south, the maniacal Heatseekers Inc. (Doink the Clown, Nathan Crown and Chuckles). You can check out their website at www.bamawrestling.com for all the latest news and show dates.

Look out for AWF DVDs coming to a gimmick table near you…

Last Saturday night’s GZW show will definitely go down as a memorable one. Due to technical difficulties with the ring, the whole show was thrown for a loop. It all started in the opening match when Kody Krueger was whipped into the ropes, only to have them snap under the pressure. This led to a string of similar events throughout the evening.

But regardless of that fact, the wrestlers still managed to redeem the show and then some. The 200-plus fans in attendance were very understanding with all the show hold-ups and stayed with the action the whole evening.

This event (soon to be released by Mark Out Media) boasted a great line-up with some stellar talent. Kody Krueger and Cyber opened and set the tone for the evening. They ripped into each other with some insane moves, climaxing in a pinfall victory for Krueger.

Next up, “To The Mat” Blake Christopher, with his second, Kory McGuiness, laid out an open challenge to any of Laurel’s hometown heroes. GZW stalwart Penance was more than happy to oblige. Christopher, a decorated amateur wrestling champion, declared that the only way he’d step into the ring with Penance was if it was under amateur rules. Various take downs and points were exchanged as Penance managed to hang in there with “To The Mat”. At that point Kory McGuiness interjected himself into the match, assaulting Penance with his cane. This lead to Penance losing his cool and in a fit of rage Penance took his mask off and threw it to the mat. Laurel regulars looked on with their mouths gaping, not believing they had finally seen the man behind the mask. He immediately snatched Blake down with a Fujiwara armbar and it appeared he had taken the match via tap out. But as it turns out, submitting an opponent is not recognized under amateur rules. Amidst the confusion, Blake schoolboyed Penance for the win using the ropes. After the match, Penance’s valet, Pika, slapped him to cool him down and demanded he put the mask back on.

The semi-main event saw the mysterious OMEGA, accompanied by Vain the Soulless One, taking on crowd favourite “The One Man Wolf Pack” Barry Wolf. A great, great match here. Vain kept running constant interference with an apple of all things. When she wasn’t eating or playing with it she was pelting Wolf with chunks of it. Bizarre stuff to say the least. The finish came when Wolf, distracted by Vain, succumbed to a spinning headlock elbow drop (or a Final Cut) from OMEGA. We may not have heard the last of Barry Wolf vs. OMEGA.

The main event saw the GZW tag team belts defended as current champions the South Side Saints (Cale Conners and Lukas Frost) took on the challenges of Punk Rock Resistance (Ethan J. Scoundrel and Scott Adams) and the team of 2 Quik and Shane Coats in a three way match. The Saints came out on top of this one, polishing off Scott Adams with stereo crescent kicks for the pinfall victory. The match went an intense twenty-plus minutes with action all the way. You’ll definitely want to pick up this DVD for this match alone!

All in all a great, albeit unorthodox, night.

Buy the DVD!

1. Kody Krueger beat Cyber
2. Blake Christopher beat Penance in an Amateur Rules wrestling match
3. OMEGA (with Vain) beat Barry Wolf
4. South Side Saints beat Punk Rock Resistance/2 Quik & Shane Coats in a three way match

There is a new Mark Out Media show in the works! I’ve dabbled a little in the past with such shows, but generally lost interest and abandoned them. Hopefully this new idea will have legs.
There is a new Mark Out Media show in the works! I’ve dabbled a little in the past with such shows, but generally lost interest and abandoned them. Hopefully this new idea will have legs. Instead of the usual “heavy rock/deadly serious” approach, I want to inject a smidge of “off-beatedness” into the format. I think that is where my strengths lie.

Right now the plan is to produce one of these shows every fortnight. Each one it scheduled to go 8-10 minutes. For the first time I’m planning to be the on air host for the show. This is a big step for me because I usually like to hide in the background during these kinds of projects. And I’ll also be providing commentary on the matches. One small step for man…one giant leap for Paulkind!

And as if that wasn’t big enough the shows will by-and-large be presented in widescreen. I’ll now be taping indy shows in 16:9 format. Marvellous. The first one to get the 16:9 treatment will be the May 2nd Ground Zero Wrestling show in Laurel, Mississippi.
